Topics to Watch at the Mt. Pleasant City Commission Meeting – April 13, 2026

Here are the topics to watch at the next in person, as well as virtual Mt. Pleasant City Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2026, at 7 p.m.

  • Presentation by Director of Public Works Jason Moore on flooding issues.
  • Public hearing to allow for public input and to consider the amendment of section 110.28(B) regarding the operation of transitory food service units and the issuance of permits, licenses, or approvals for transitory food service units.
  • Consider awarding the contract for the 2026 City Hall Retaining Wall & Streetscape Replacement Project to McGuirk Sand and Gravel for $1,369,597 and approve a budget amendment of $60,000 in the general fund.
  • Work session discussing the future of the former Mt. Pleasant Center Property.

The City Commission Meeting will be held in person in the City Chambers/City Hall (320 W. Broadway Street) with virtual attendance options as well. Non-voting participants may view the meeting live on the City’s YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/MtPleasantMi/, on Spectrum Charter channel 188 or via Zoom.

If a virtual option becomes unavailable due to technical difficulties, the meeting will continue as scheduled. Residents who would like to provide a comment during the appropriate time are welcome to come to the meeting at City Hall or email their statement to comment@mt-pleasant.org.

Park Closures Due to Flooding

UPDATE 4/6/2026 – Chipp-A-Waters Park and Island Park have reopened following recent flooding. However, for safety reasons, sections of the trails remain closed and are clearly marked.

Visitors are asked to follow all posted closures and avoid entering restricted areas, as conditions may still be unstable in certain locations.

City staff will continue to monitor conditions as park trails become safe to reopen.

4/4/2026 – Due to flooding and safety concerns, Chipp-A-Waters Park and Island Park are closed until further notice. All park trails are closed and should not be used at this time. Please avoid entering these areas.

City staff are monitoring conditions and will provide updates as they become available.

Island Park closed due to flooding

Island Park in Mt. Pleasant is closed until further notice due to flooding. As more information becomes available, updates will be posted to the City’s website at www.mt-pleasant.org; as well as to the City’s social media pages at www.facebook.com/mtpleasantmi and www.twitter.com/mtpleasantmi.

FLOOD RECOVERY UPDATE: Disaster assistance and loans available for residents and businesses

DISASTER RECOVERY CENTER
A Disaster Recovery Center is now open in Isabella County to help residents and businesses through the assistance process after damages and losses suffered during the severe storms and flooding that occurred from June 22 – 27, 2017.

Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday

ASSISTANCE AND LOANS AVAILABLE
Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are at the center to answer questions about disaster assistance and low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses. They can also help survivors apply for federal disaster assistance.

REGISTER TODAY
Residents must register with FEMA before being considered for assistance or a loan.

Residents and those who use 711 or Video Relay Services can call 800-621-3362 to register for assistance. People who are hearing impaired can call 800-462-7585.

It is recommended that residents register before visiting the recovery center.
