Christmas Celebration Events in Downtown Mt. Pleasant on December 6, 2025

Downtown Mt. Pleasant will be filled with holiday spirit on Saturday, December 6, 2025 during the annual Christmas Celebration.

Festivities begin with The Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, along with the adult 5K and 5 Mile Run, all starting at Max & Emily’s. Participants must register online before race day. Start times are 8:00, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m.

A pancake breakfast with Santa will take place from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children under ten, and free for children under four. Proceeds benefit the Sacred Heart Academy Athletic Association, and tickets will be available at the door.

At Veteran’s Memorial Library, browse the Children’s Book Sale from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Annex Meeting Room. All books will cost 25¢, and proceeds from the sale will support the library. From 9:00 to 5:00, visit the Gingerbread House Photo Booth to take some festive photos. A tripod will be available, but bring your own phone or camera for this self-serve opportunity. The photo booth is also open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 12/5, and from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, 12/7.

Enjoy holiday music from local performers in front of Max & Emily’s from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Make and Take Crafts at Art Reach and Cookie Decorating at Max & Emily’s will also take place at this time.

The Winter Market and Candy Cane Lane will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., featuring specialty crafts, food vendors and children’s games and activities. At Town Center, take a ride on the Christmas Train or watch live ice sculpting demonstrations by Ice Gurus. Winter Market vendor applications are due November 19.

The celebration continues at 5:30 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony at Town center, followed by the Lighted Christmas Parade at 6 p.m., traveling down Main and Broadway St.  CMU President, Neil MacKinnon, will serve as the Parade Grand Marshal. Parade entry applications are due November 19. For everyone’s safety, please remain on the sidewalks during the parade.

Mt. Pleasant Police Investigating Drowning

On October 26, 2025 at 8:22 AM, officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to a drowning incident in the area of Island Park.  Upon arrival, officers found a 47-year-old male from Mt. Pleasant deceased in the river. 


This is an open and on-going investigation, however, no foul play is suspected.  Anyone with information regarding this incident are asked to contact the Mt. Pleasant Police Department’s Anonymous Tip Line at (989) 779-9111 or Central Dispatch (989) 773-1000.


The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police, Mobile Medical Response, Isabella County Central Dispatch, Isabella County Medical Examiner’s office, and Mt. Pleasant Fire Department.

Life is saved on North Henry St. Fire

On October 25, 2025 at 12:23 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department responded to a structure fire located at 721 N. Henry St. The fire was reported at the back of the structure.

At 12:28 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Police Department advised that one person remained in the residence. Fire crews arrived at 12:28:31, just as two City Police Officers extricated the victim out of the front of the home. The victim was treated on scene by Police and Fire personnel, then transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The fire was located at the rear of the home and determined to be a cooking fire that got out of control and spread to a kitchen fire. The fire was brought under control at 12:39 p.m. The home sustained significant damage from fire, smoke, heat, and water. The occupants were home at the time of the fire and were displaced but are staying with family members in the area.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Deerfield Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response, Consumers Energy, DTE, and Isabella County Central Dispatch.

No firefighters or Police Officers reported any injuries.

The fire remains under investigation.

Most home fires occur at night when people are sleeping. Check smoke detectors monthly and replace batteries twice a year. Operating smoke detectors may save your life.

Trick-or-Treat Hours and Safety Tips for Halloween

Get ready for a spooktacular Halloween! The City of Mt. Pleasant invites families to enjoy a safe and fun evening at the Pumpkin Promenade and citywide Trick-or-Treating.

Pumpkin Promenade

The Pumpkin Promenade will take place on Friday, October 31, from 4 – 6 p.m. in downtown Mt. Pleasant. Children 12 and under are invited to wear their Halloween costumes, trick-or-treat at downtown businesses, and enjoy kid-friendly outdoor activities.

Mt. Pleasant Trick-or-Treating

The City of Mt. Pleasant’s official Trick-or-Treat hours are 6 – 8 p.m. on October 31. To have a safe and enjoyable experience, please remember these tips:

  • Stay on well-lit streets, and use sidewalks.
  • Young children should be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
  • Look both ways before crossing streets and use crosswalks.
  • Carry a flashlight and/or wear reflective clothing.
  • Always stay in front of a residence, and never enter a house when Trick or Treating.
  • Inspect all treats collected, and discard any item that is not sealed.
