Mt. Pleasant Police Respond to Stabbing – No Risk to the Public

At approximately 12:40 a.m. on May 6, 2023 officers of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department were dispatched to a local hospital to meet with victims of a stabbing assault. A male victim suffered stab wounds to the chest, and a female victim sustained stab wounds to the back area. Both individuals are in stable condition.

This incident occurred in the vicinity of Broomfield and Mission Streets. Police interviewed several witnesses who described a physical altercation between several males. The injured female tried to intervene, resulting in her stab wounds.

Police have determined the parties involved do not live in this area, or have any connections to the community. It is believed the suspects are no longer in the area, and there is no risk to the public.

Armed Robbery Suspect in Custody

On August 30, 2021 at approximately 3:24 p.m. officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) responded to an armed robbery on the west side of the city.

Upon arrival, officers determined the suspect left the scene in a vehicle. Two victims, a 41-year-old male and 43-year-old female, were acquainted with the suspect and provided a detailed description. Officers quickly located the 38-year-old male suspect from Saginaw at a residence on the east side of Isabella County where he was taken into custody and lodged at the Isabella County Jail. The handgun was also located and seized for evidence. The suspect will be arraigned later today. This was an isolated and targeted incident. There is no risk to the public.

Mt. Pleasant Police investigating suspicious death – No risk to the public

Mt. Pleasant Police were dispatched to an animal control complaint at 10:12 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019. During this call it was discovered that a resident of the home was deceased.

Name and specific location information are being withheld until next of kin can be contacted. The Mt. Pleasant Police, along with the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police, are currently investigating. There is no risk to the public.
