Right Way Auto Armed Robbery Suspect in Custody

On January 19, 2022 at approximately 9:55 a.m. officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Right Way Auto, 1119 S. Mission Street.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male suspect brandished a gun and fled the scene in a vehicle stolen from the Right Way auto lot. Dealer employees were able to give a description of the suspect and stolen vehicle. The suspect was identified as a 20-year-old male from Mt. Pleasant by the vehicle he drove to the dealership and left at the scene. Mt. Pleasant Police detectives and officers issued a ‘be on the lookout’ for the suspect and vehicle to surrounding law enforcement agencies. A short time later, the Bay County Police Department located the suspect and placed him into custody without incident. The handgun seized by police was a BB gun. The suspect will be arraigned on January 20 in the Isabella County Court. This was an isolated and targeted incident. There is no risk to the public.

Armed Robbery Suspect in Custody

On August 30, 2021 at approximately 3:24 p.m. officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) responded to an armed robbery on the west side of the city.

Upon arrival, officers determined the suspect left the scene in a vehicle. Two victims, a 41-year-old male and 43-year-old female, were acquainted with the suspect and provided a detailed description. Officers quickly located the 38-year-old male suspect from Saginaw at a residence on the east side of Isabella County where he was taken into custody and lodged at the Isabella County Jail. The handgun was also located and seized for evidence. The suspect will be arraigned later today. This was an isolated and targeted incident. There is no risk to the public.

Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended

MT. PLEASANT, MI – On March 28, 2021 at approximately 9:15 p.m. an armed robbery was reported at the NextDoor Food Store located at 1622 S. Mission Street. The suspect, wearing a wig at the time of the robbery, did produce a handgun and left on foot.

Officers from both the Mt. Pleasant Police and Central Michigan University Police Departments were in the vicinity when the call was dispatched and quickly located the suspect three blocks away. Officers placed the suspect into custody and recovered the gun which was plastic.

The suspect, who is a 33-year-old male from Mt. Pleasant, will be arraigned on Monday, March 29, 2021 in the Isabella County Court.

Armed Robbery Spree Suspect in Custody

On November 15, 2020 at approximately 11:08 p.m. an armed robbery took place at the Speedway located at 1018 S. Pickard Street. The suspect, a white male in his late 20’s wearing a black coat, jeans and a black mask with shoulder length light brown hair, produced a handgun, demanded money, and left the scene in a vehicle. As Officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department were searching the area, a second call came in at 11:16 p.m. for an armed robbery at the Citgo located at 910 W. Pickard Street. The suspect had the same description as the suspect in the first armed robbery.

Michigan State Police and Isabella County Sheriff Deputies assisted in locating the suspect’s vehicle. A vehicle fitting the description was found at The Marathon Gas station located at 2025 E. Remus Road. The suspect is in custody at an out of county hospital. UPDATE: Empty Keg Party Store armed robbery

10/12/18 UPDATE:

On October 6, 2018 at approximately 10:44 p.m. Mt. Pleasant Police received a call of an armed robbery that had just occurred at 122 E. Pickard Street in the City of Mt. Pleasant.

On October 7, 2018 a description and photo of the suspect, along with video surveillance footage was released to the media. The public responded with several tips of the suspect’s identity and the suspect was identified.

Mt. Pleasant Police Detectives quickly determined the suspect was no longer in the Mt. Pleasant area and have reached out for assistance from other law enforcement agencies throughout the state. On October 8, 2018 an arrest warrant was issued for Rickery Donnell Cole Jr. a 29-year old black male.  In addition to the warrant for armed robbery, Cole has eight other outstanding warrants.

Rickery Donnell Cole Jr. is described as 6’1”, 190 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Cole has a tattoo of a “Lion Head” on his upper back, and “AHLISIANNA” tattooed on the left side of his chest.

The Mt. Pleasant Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Rickery Donnell Cole Jr. who resides in the Lansing area and should be considered armed and dangerous. If you know the whereabouts of Rickery Donnell Cole Jr. please DO NOT approach him, contact your local police department and Isabella County Central Dispatch at 989-773-1000.

October 7, 2018 MEDIA RELEASE: 

Armed Robbery 122 E. Pickard St. (Empty Keg Party Store) 

MT PLEASANT, MI – On October 6, 2018 at approximately 10:44 p.m., Mt. Pleasant Police received a call of an armed robbery that had just occurred at 122 E. Pickard Street in the City of Mt. Pleasant.

Mt. Pleasant Police officers responded to the Empty Keg Party Store and secured the scene. Additional officers began a canvass of the area in an attempt to locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as a 5’8″ to 6′ male with dark complexion, wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, black basketball shorts, and tan shoes.

The suspect entered the store to inform the clerk of a disturbance outside.  The clerk exited the store with the suspect. The suspect then displayed a hand gun and ordered the clerk back into the store to retrieve money from the cash register.

Mt. Pleasant Police were unable to locate anyone in the area that matched the description of the suspect. Additional businesses in the area were contacted and made aware of the situation and were advised to contact Isabella County Central Dispatch if anyone matching the description came into their business.

Mt. Pleasant Police were assisted by a Michigan State Police K-9 unit. The investigation remains ongoing by Mt. Pleasant Police detectives.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Mt. Pleasant Police Department TIP line at (989)779-9111.
