Road Closures for Christmas Celebration and Parade

The City of Mt. Pleasant is preparing for a weekend of Christmas festivities. To help residents and visitors plan ahead, the following outlines road closures and the route for the Lighted Christmas Parade.

Beginning Friday, December 5 at 5 p.m., vehicles parked on the streets listed below will be subject to towing. Towed vehicles will be relocated to City Hall (320 W. Broadway St.).

Road Closures

Friday, December 5 at 5 p.m. – Saturday, December 6 at 8 p.m.

  • Broadway St. from Washington St. to Lansing St.
  • Main St. from Michigan St. to Jockey Alley
  • University St. from Broadway St. to Cat’s Meow Alley.
  • Franklin St. from Broadway St. to Cat’s Meow Alley.
  • Court St. from Broadway St. to Jockey Alley.

Saturday, December 6 from 2 p.m. 8 p.m.

  • Main St. from Broadway St. to High St.,
  • Broadway St. from Main St. to Lansing St.
  • Lansing St. from Broadway St. to Illinois St.

Parade Route

The lighted parade, which begins at 6 p.m. on December 6, starts at the First United Methodist Church, travels north on Main Street, east on Broadway Street, south on Lansing Street to Illinois Street. CMU President, Neil MacKinnon, will serve as the Parade Grand Marshal.

PARADE SAFETY NOTE:  For the safety of parade-goers and parade participants; please do not venture out into the street during the parade. Stay on the sidewalk during the entire duration of the parade.

Christmas Celebration Events in Downtown Mt. Pleasant on December 6, 2025

Downtown Mt. Pleasant will be filled with holiday spirit on Saturday, December 6, 2025 during the annual Christmas Celebration.

Festivities begin with The Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, along with the adult 5K and 5 Mile Run, all starting at Max & Emily’s. Participants must register online before race day. Start times are 8:00, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m.

Jingle All-The-Way Run Registration

A pancake breakfast with Santa will take place from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children under ten, and free for children under four. Proceeds benefit the Sacred Heart Academy Athletic Association, and tickets will be available at the door.

At Veteran’s Memorial Library, browse the Children’s Book Sale from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Annex Meeting Room. All books will cost 25¢, and proceeds from the sale will support the library. From 9:00 to 5:00, visit the Gingerbread House Photo Booth to take some festive photos. A tripod will be available, but bring your own phone or camera for this self-serve opportunity. The photo booth is also open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 12/5, and from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, 12/7.

Enjoy holiday music from local performers in front of Max & Emily’s from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Make and Take Crafts at Art Reach and Cookie Decorating at Max & Emily’s will also take place at this time.

The Winter Market and Candy Cane Lane will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., featuring specialty crafts, food vendors and children’s games and activities. At Town Center, take a ride on the Christmas Train or watch live ice sculpting demonstrations by Ice Gurus. Winter Market vendor applications are due November 19.

The celebration continues at 5:30 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony at Town center, followed by the Lighted Christmas Parade at 6 p.m., traveling down Main and Broadway St.  CMU President, Neil MacKinnon, will serve as the Parade Grand Marshal. Parade entry applications are due November 19. For everyone’s safety, please remain on the sidewalks during the parade.

Mt. Pleasant Police Department’s Cram-a-Cruiser Drive Offers Dining Deals and Fun

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department (MPPD), Krapohl Ford Lincoln, as well as restaurants, Mountain Town Station, and Summit Smokehouse, invite the public to help ‘cram-a-cruiser’ with new, unwrapped, unopened toys to support Toys for Tots.

  • November 29 – December 16 Treat yourself to a delicious meal while helping the toy drive. Bring a toy and enjoy 25% off your individual meal at Mountain Town Station or Summit Smokehouse. (Alcohol excluded.)
  • December 4 from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. at Krapohl Ford Lincoln, 1415 E. Pickard Road.
  • December 12 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in front of the Division of Public Safety Building, 804 E. High Street.

MPPD Youth Services Officer Josh Theisen shared, “Every year our department looks forward to participating in the Toys for Tots program and helping our area youth have a good holiday.” He continued, “An added bonus is witnessing the strong partnerships and commitment between community members and local businesses to make this happen for our kids.”

Toy drop-off boxes are also located inside the Division of Public Safety Building Lobby (802 E. High Street) and the City Hall Lobby (320 W. Broadway Street).

Laser Light Show Added to Downtown Mt. Pleasant Christmas Celebration Line-Up

Downtown Mt. Pleasant will be filled with holiday spirit at the December 6-7 Christmas Celebration.

The festivities kick off on Friday, December 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Town Center will begin at 5 p.m. near the community tree.

The Winter Market will once again feature specialty crafts and food vendors and Candy Cane Lane will host a variety of children’s games, activities, and live performances.

  • Saturday, December 7, 3-6 p.m. & 7-8 p.m.: Coldwell Banker/Mt. Pleasant Realty, 304 E. Broadway Street

New this year, a laser light show will illuminate the skies over Town Center at 8 p.m. This show, choreographed to holiday music, will be the closing act to Friday’s activities.

Admission is $11 for adults, $5 for children under 10, and children under 4 are free. Proceeds benefit the Sacred Heart Academy Athletic Association. Tickets will be sold at the door.

The celebration kicks off Friday, December 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. The Winter Market will once again feature specialty crafts and food vendors and Candy Cane Lane will host a variety of children’s games, activities, and live performances. Visits with Santa and his reindeer round out the night’s festivities.

Saturday, December 2 highlights include the Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, and the adult 5K and 5 Mile Run, all starting at Max & Emily’s. Registration must be completed online. Races begin at 7:50, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m., with proceeds benefitting Toys for Tots.

The celebration kicks off Friday, December 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Broadway Street between Main and Franklin. The Winter Market will once again feature specialty crafts and food vendors and Candy Cane Lane will host a variety of children’s games, activities, and live performances. Hayrides and visits with Santa and Santa’s reindeer round out the night’s festivities.

Saturday, December 3 highlights include the Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, and the adult 5K and 5 Mile Run, all starting at Max & Emily’s. Registration must be completed online. Races begin at 7:50, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m., with proceeds benefitting Toys for Tots.

On Friday, December 3 at 5 p.m. the celebration kicks off at Town Center with a new Winter Market featuring specialty crafts and food vendors. Candy Cane Lane at Town Center will host a variety of children’s games and activities, and the Community Sing-Along and Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Christmas light tour hayrides will also be offered. Tours will begin at University and Broadway Street.

Celebration attendees are invited to help the Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Toys for Tots “Cram-A-Cruiser” with new, unopened, unwrapped toys. Stop by Town Center between 5 – 8 p.m. to get an up-close look at a police cruiser while helping the toy drive.

Saturday, December 4 highlights include the Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, 5K and 5 Mile Run starting at Max & Emily’s. Registration must be completed online. Races begin at 7:50, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Toys for Tots.

To complete the day, holiday fireworks viewed from downtown, will light up the sky after the parade.
