Mt. Pleasant Fire Department Responds to Two Structure Fires Over Weekend

On January 9, 2021 at 7:06 a.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a house fire at 448 E. Pickard Road in Union Township.

Upon arrival firefighters observed light smoke coming from the structure. It was determined the fire was located in the attic, and was quickly extinguished. Smoke and fire damage were sustained in the attic and the rear of the home. The MPFD is currently investigating to determine the cause of the fire.

The occupants of the residence were home at the time of the incident and safely exited the structure.

The MPFD was assisted by the Isabella County Fire Investigation Team and the Deerfield Fire Department.

On January 10, 2021 at 5:21 a.m. the MPFD responded to a barn fire at 4989 E. Millbrook Road in Union Township.  Firefighters arrived on the scene and observed a large barn fully engulfed in heavy smoke and flames. The building is determined a total loss. The MPFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

All farm animals were safely removed from the area.           

The MPFD was assisted by MMR, Shepherd Tri-Township Fire Department, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department and Fremont Fire Department.
