No Injuries in Lexington Ridge Apartment Fire

On April 19, 2025, at 7:32 a.m. the Mount Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a fire at Lexington Ridge Apartments, 3700 E. Deerfield Rd. in Union Township.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a small fire inside a wall and in the attic of the two-story apartment building. The fire was quickly brought under control.

The building sustained smoke, fire, and water damage. The tenants of two units were displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.    

No injuries were reported.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted by Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Isabella County Central Dispatch and the American Red Cross.

Fire at Edgewood Apartments

On March 25, 2025, at 4:50 a.m. the Mount Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire at Edgewood Apartments located within the city limits.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke and fire coming from the rear of the three-story apartment building. The building sustained smoke and fire damage.

No injuries were reported. Apartment occupants were alerted by smoke alarms and exited safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.        

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted by Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Michigan State Police, and Isabella County Central Dispatch.

Mobile Home a Total Loss in Fire

On January 22, 2025, at 5:16 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of Wellington Drive in Union Township’s Summerhill Village Mobile Home Park.

Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and fire coming from a mobile home. The fire was caused by attempting to heat frozen pipes and is a total loss.

The owner was home at the time of the fire, but did not sustain any injuries.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Deerfield Fire Department, Shepherd Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response, and Isabella County Central Dispatch.

Mobile Home Damaged in Fire

On January 14, 2025, at 4:22 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of Stoneridge Court in Union Township’s Summerhill Mobile Home Park.

Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and fire coming from a double wide mobile home. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. The mobile home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.

There were no occupants home at the time of the fire, which was reported by a neighbor.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.    

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and Isabella County Central Dispatch.

Multi-Family Housing Unit Fire

On December 22, 2024, at 3:57 a.m., the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Walnut Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Upon arrival, crews observed a two-story, eight-unit multifamily housing building partially engulfed in flames, with fire extending from the entrance door up through the roof. The fire was brought under control by 4:41 a.m.

The building sustained heavy fire damage to four of the front units and heavy to moderate smoke damage to the back four units. All building tenants are displaced and working with the building owner and the American Red Cross to find temporary housing.

Three occupants were transported to a local hospital for burns and smoke inhalation injuries. All other occupants were able to exit the building safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The MPFD was assisted by the Deerfield Township Fire Department, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Shepherd Tri-Township Fire Department, Isabella Northeast Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Consumers Energy, DTE and Isabella County Central Dispatch.

Fire Damages Trailer Home

On December 20, 2024, at 6:38 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire at the Bradley Street Trailer Park located at 505 S. Bradley Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Upon arrival, crews observed a trailer with smoke and fire coming from the roof and eaves. The fire was brought under control by 7:50 p.m. The trailer sustained heavy smoke and fire damage throughout.

Occupants were home at the time of the fire and exited safely. MPFD personnel remained on scene to salvage as many items as possible for the occupants.

The MPFD is investigating the cause of the fire.       

The MPFD was assisted by the Deerfield Township Fire Department, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Mobile Medical Response, and Isabella County Central Dispatch.

Fire Damages Mt. Pleasant Home

On November 20, 2024, at 1:24 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD)

responded to a house fire in the 700 block of Cooley Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Upon arrival, crews observed a small two-story home with smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure. The fire was brought under control by 2:10 p.m. The house sustained heavy smoke, heat, and fire damage to the first floor, and substantial smoke and heat damage to the second floor.

Occupants were home at the time of the fire and exited safely. One firefighter was injured and sought medical treatment.

The MPFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire Damages Mt. Pleasant Apartment

On November 9, 2024, at 2:15 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire in the 1500 block of Canterbury Trail Apartments.

Upon arrival, crews observed a single story, four-unit apartment building with smoke exiting from one unit’s front door. The fire was brought under control by 2:35 p.m.

The apartment sustained moderate to heavy smoke and heat damage. The kitchen, where the fire originated, sustained heavy fire damage. The occupant, who was home at the time of the fire, was able to exit safely. This individual is currently displaced from the apartment.

The MPFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire Damages Union Township Home

On November 9, 2024, at 6:19 a.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire in the 900 block of South Isabella Road in Union Township.

Upon arrival, crews observed a two-story home and adjoining office with smoke coming from a portion of the roof’s eaves. The fire was brought under control by 6:42 a.m. The structure sustained smoke, heat, and fire damage

Since the building is currently under construction, no occupants were home at the time of the fire.

The MPFD is investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire Damages Union Township Home

On October 8, 2024, at 4:14 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a house fire in the 5000 block of Brindle Lane in Union Township.

Upon arrival, crews observed a two-story home with heavy smoke coming from both the front and back of the dwelling. The fire was brought under control by 4:36 p.m.

The occupants were outside in the front yard when they heard the home’s interior smoke alarms sound. When they opened the front door, black smoke poured out of the doorway. The house sustained smoke, heat, and fire damage.

No injuries were sustained by the home’s occupants or first responders.

The MPFD is investigating the cause of the fire.
