On February 20, 2026, at 7:16 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Timbercreek Apartments, 3300 E. Deerfield Rd., Wing E, Apartment 219, in Union Township. Arriving crew observed smoke coming from the second-floor balcony and located a fire within an outside wall. The fire extended to the third-floor apartment above. An offensive fire attack brought the fire under control within 15 minutes. The building sustained smoke, fire, and water damage to three units. Tenants of three units were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and Isabella County Central Dispatch.
No tenants or firefighters reported any injuries on scene.
Most home fires occur at night when people are sleeping. Check smoke detectors monthly and replace batteries twice a year. Operating smoke detectors may save your life.
