Possession of counterfeit bills arrest made

On April 27, 2019 at approximately 11:12 a.m., officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) were dispatched to 212 W. Michigan St. (Blackstone Bar) for a subject who made a purchase with a counterfeit $50.00 bill.

Officers responded to the Blackstone Bar and with the assistance of bar staff, quickly located and made contact with the 23-year-old subject.

Officers learned the subject was approached by an “acquaintance” who had given him the bill to purchase a six pack of beer.

The “acquaintance” was contacted and identified as Ty Showerman, a 21-year-old male. Showerman stated he was given the money from an unknown male.

Further investigation showed Showerman had given six counterfeit $50.00 bills to a friend because he knew he would be speaking to officers.

Showerman was arrested for Possession of Counterfeit Bills and lodged in the Isabella County Jail.

Officers recovered a total of nine counterfeit $50.00 bills in this incident.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the staff of the Blackstone Bar in this investigation.
